Visual identities and promotional work for music, theatre and live performance.

Illustration, concept and design

Designing for music and theatre is more often about interpretation rather than explanation.

The Guernsey Choral Festival is an eclectic mix of vocal talent. I liked the idea of sound waves that were distinct yet harmonious. One of the concerts featured a piece inspired by constellations of stars, so I used that to literally join the dots.

A Facebook post that needed to be assembled and delivered within a couple of hours

The Hearing Stones concert was in itself an exercise in abstraction, so I didn’t see the need to take that any further in case that meaning was lost. I started drawing people entwined with stone and decided on the illustration here which felt peaceful and calming

Bach is admired for the technical brilliance of his work and I wanted to illustrate this in a poster which had a lot of copy. I pulled out the bird quote from the readings and illustrated to a grid. There is a churchy element to the golden lines I think.

This MTG production of Sam Shepards’ play featured a love triangle with a controversial twist (no spoilers). Set in a midwest motel room, I found a contrast of grubbiness and saccherine glamour conveyed the mood of the piece.
